AEROSOLS
The goals of this regional-scale monitoring program are to characterize means, variability, and trends of climate-forcing properties of different types of aerosols, and to understand the factors that control these properties. The Aerosol group within the Global Monitoring Divison’s measurements also provide ground-truth for satellite measurements and global models, as well as key aerosol parameters for global-scale models. CARBON DIOXIDE
The National Center for Atmospheric Research maintains the Regional Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Network in the Rocky Mountains. A station has been located at Storm Peak Laboratory since September 2005. In 2021 the Carbon Cycle-Greenhouse Gases group at NOAA Global Monitoring Laboratory added a Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Water Vapor and Carbon Monoxide instrument to Storm Peak Laboratory.
