Undergraduate

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree and a minor for undergraduate students. Students may specialize their degree path by selecting one of three emphases: Environmental Sciences, Professional Meteorology, and Snow and Water Sciences. Students with interest in severe weather, climate change, forecasting, broadcast meteorology, atmospheric chemistry, remote sensing and many other areas find a home in the Atmospheric Sciences department.

Bachelors students complete an experiential learning project (research project or internship), prior to graduation, which gives them the opportunity to delve deeper into the Atmospheric Sciences field.

We are a small department, which allows students access to one-on-one time with instructors and walk-in academic advising. It also allows students to be involved in the department in several ways, from the Utah Weather Center, to the student chapter of the American Meteorological Society. Bachelors students complete a capstone project prior to graduation, which gives them the opportunity to delve deeper into the Atmospheric Sciences field.
