Air Pollution during COVID-19 in Park City
Professor Daniel Mendoza and other researchers installed new air quality sensors in Park City in September 2019 in hopes of gathering additional data about air pollution during the ski season and the Sundance Film Festival. Little did they know this would allow for the gathering of data during the COVID-19 pandemic to identify trends in air pollution. They observed significant decreases in air pollution during the COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions and gradual increases as restrictions were lifted. Analyzing these trends could allow for the identification of pollution sources and potential mitigation efforts.
