ATMOS Undergrads Study Utah's Windstorm
Three of our undergraduate students, Andy Park, James Powell, and Eric McNamee, braved
the harsh winds on the morning of September 8th to launch a weather balloon and attached
radiosonde. The forecast called for extremely strong downslope winds all along the
Wasatch Front, which presented an opportunity to gather valuable data to aid in the
study of these extreme events. Some of the observed data is shown below.
