Atmospheric Sciences Professor Court Strong was recently featured by EuroScientist for his method for infilling sea ice using partial differential equations. The article highlights the success of applied mathematics in helping us better understand important global issues, such as climate change. Professor Strong's method seeks to help fill in the hole of data missing due to the inability of satellites to measure sea ice coverage around the North Pole.
