Dr. John Lin speaks with Fox News about the Inversion
Associate Professor John Lin spoke with Fox News about the Salt Lake Valley inversions and what researchers at the University of Utah, in collaboration with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Environmental Protection Agency, are doing to research more about the causes of the inversion. NOAA's Twin Otter Aircraft is now flying around the Salt Lake Valley taking air quality measurements and giving researchers a vertical picture of particulates in the air. Air quality has already been measured horizontally at ground level for two years due to air quality measurement equipment on a TRAX train. Now researchers will be able to combine the vertical and horizontal measurements for a more complete picture of air quality at multiple altitudes and locations in Utah.
